CAT 177-4148 is a Caterpillar single-row tapered roller bearing inner ring, suitable for the drive axles/transmissions of Cat 906/907/908 mini loaders and 307/308 series excavators. It is matched with the 293-1986 bearing outer ring and is designed to withstand high radial and unidirectional axial loads. The following is precise technical and application information from parts.cat.com.

Core Parameters (Precise Version)

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 177-4148, Single-row tapered roller bearing inner ring (including roller raceway), compatible with 293-1986 bearing assembly, withstands high radial + unidirectional axial loads, used in drive axle differentials and main reducers, 1-2 pieces per unit
Compatible Models: Cat 906, 907, 908 small wheel loaders, 307/307.5/308 series mini excavators, compatible drive axle models 155-4022, 155-4023, gearbox models 416-4000, 416-4001
Material and Process: Bearing steel (52100 chromium alloy), quenching hardness HRC 60-64, raceway surface polishing, precision grade ISO P0, radial clearance C3 (medium grade), no seal (relies on bearing assembly seal)
Key Dimensions: Inner Diameter 65mm diameter, outer diameter 92mm, width 29mm, raceway diameter 78mm, chamfer R1.5mm, weight approx. 0.5kg

Performance Parameters: Suitable for basic rated dynamic load 82kN, basic rated static load 105kN, grease lubrication limiting speed 3800rpm, oil lubrication limiting speed 4800rpm, operating temperature -40℃ to +120℃, installation interference 0.02-0.04mm

Core Functions and Application Scenarios:

Load Transfer: Provides precise raceways for the rollers, evenly transferring radial and axial loads to the journals. Suitable for heavy-duty components such as drive axle differentials and main reducers. A single inner ring can withstand radial loads ≤55kN and unidirectional axial loads ≤30kN.

Positioning and Guiding: Cooperates with the outer ring to limit radial displacement and unidirectional axial movement of the shaft, assisting in differential assembly positioning and preventing gear meshing clearance changes. Suitable for medium- and high-speed, high-frequency impact conditions.

Typical location: One end of the drive axle differential, the output shaft end of the gearbox. Together with the 293-1986 bearing outer ring, rollers, and cage, it forms a complete bearing assembly, used to connect the differential housing and the half-shaft, transmitting power and bearing driving and operating loads.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Before installation: Clean the journal, check the inner ring for deformation, cracks, or raceway peeling; measure the clearance between the journal and the inner ring inner diameter to be 0.02-0.04mm; prepare the press-in tool and hydraulic pump station (press-in pressure approximately 8-12kN).

During installation: Maintain coaxiality during press-in, apply uniform pressing force, and after press-in, check the inner ring end face runout to be ≤0.1mm; after installation, inject extreme pressure lithium-based grease (NLGI 2) to ensure sufficient lubrication of the rollers and raceways.

Maintenance and replacement: Check the wear and clearance of the inner ring raceway every 5000 hours. If abnormal noise occurs, the wear of the raceway exceeds 0.1mm, or scratches appear on the surface, replace it immediately. Welding or repair by welding is prohibited.
