CAT 1T-0803 (1T0803) is a Caterpillar genuine engine valve bridge adjusting sleeve, compatible with 3406, 3408, 3412 series diesel engines. It is used for positioning and locking the valve bridge during valve clearance adjustment to ensure adjustment accuracy. It is suitable for heavy-duty excavators, loaders, generator sets, and other equipment to ensure stable operation of the valve train.

Core Parameters (Original Manufacturer Nominal)

Item Details
Part Model: CAT 1T-0803 (1T0803) Valve Bridge Adjusting Sleeve (Single Set, including locating sleeve, locking ring, and adjusting rod)

Structure Type: Threaded locating inner bore, compatible with 1/2-inch square head torque wrench, knurled outer surface for anti-slip, locking ring for anti-loosening, installation torque 8-10 N·m

Material: Locating sleeve is 40Cr alloy steel + nitrided; locking ring is 65Mn spring steel; adjusting rod is 42CrMo alloy steel + quenched and tempered

Key Dimensions: Sleeve inner diameter 12.7mm (1/2 inch), outer diameter 22mm, total length 65mm, knurled section length 30mm, thread specification M10×1.25, locating groove width 5mm

Applicable to: CAT 3406, 3408, 3412 series diesel engines, compatible valve bridge diameter 16mm, valve clearance adjustment range 0.25-0.5mm

Features: Positioning accuracy ±0.02mm, suitable for valve bridge height adjustment, temperature resistance -30℃ to 150℃, protection rating IP40, suitable for long-term continuous operation.

Weight: Approx. 0.12kg

Suitable Applications:

Installation and Positioning: Installed on top of the valve bridge, the positioning sleeve is fitted onto the top of the valve bridge, the adjusting rod is connected to the valve bridge via threads, the locking ring fixes the adjustment position, and the valve clearance is set using a torque wrench. Two valves per cylinder (one for intake and one for exhaust valves).

Operating Conditions: Suitable for engine overhaul, valve clearance inspection and adjustment, etc. The knurled design facilitates manual operation, the threaded positioning ensures adjustment accuracy, and the locking ring prevents clearance deviation due to vibration during operation. Suitable for high-load, high-speed operating conditions.

Matching Relationship: Compatible with 1T-0766 valve bridge and 1T-0804 adjusting bolts. When replacing, simultaneously check for wear on the locating sleeve, elasticity of the locking ring, and damage to the adjusting rod threads.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation Steps:
Clean the top of the valve bridge and the sleeve. Place the locating sleeve onto the valve bridge. Screw the adjusting rod into the valve bridge threaded hole, pre-adjusting to the target clearance.
Tighten the adjusting rod with a torque wrench to 8-10 N·m. Install and lock the locking ring. Check for any valve bridge movement. After adjustment, the valve clearance should meet the original factory specifications (intake 0.25mm, exhaust 0.5mm).

Maintenance Cycle: Check every 2000 hours under standard operating conditions. Under harsh operating conditions (high temperature/high dust), shorten to 1000 hours. Focus on checking for wear on the locating sleeve, loose locking ring, and stripped adjusting rod threads.

Replacement criteria: If the inner hole of the positioning sleeve is worn by more than 0.05mm, the elasticity of the locking ring is weakened, the thread of the adjusting rod is damaged, or the positioning accuracy is out of tolerance, the entire piece must be replaced and cannot be repaired or continued to be used.
