The CAT 1W-5920 is a steel-backed Babbitt alloy camshaft bearing specifically designed for Caterpillar 3204 diesel engines. It is used to support the stable operation of the camshaft, reduce friction, and absorb shock. It is suitable for 3204 engine models in industrial and construction machinery and can replace older models such as 1W5290 and 4211558, ensuring long-term stable operation of the valve train. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 1W-5920, Type: Steel-backed Babbitt alloy camshaft bearing, Structure: Integral ring, Material: Low-carbon steel back + tin-based Babbitt alloy (alloy layer thickness 0.8-1.0 mm), Single weight: Approximately 0.25 kg, Operating temperature: -30℃ to +150℃, Design life: ≥10000 hours (normal operating conditions), Lubrication method: Pressure lubrication (oil pressure 0.2-0.5 MPa), Suitable for 3204 diesel engine camshaft support position
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter: 50 mm (tolerance 0/+0.02 mm), Outer diameter: 65 mm (tolerance 0/-0.015 mm), Width: 48 mm (tolerance ±0.10 mm), Alloy layer thickness: 0.8-1.0 mm, Corner radius: R1.5 mm, Camshaft clearance: 0.03-0.05 mm mm, interference fit with bearing housing 0.01-0.02 mm, radial runout ≤0.05 mm
Compatible Models and Replacement Parts: Compatible with Cat 3204 industrial engines (6DC1-UP, 2TB1-2TB99999, 3PC1-UP, 7EB1-7EB9999 series, etc.), suitable for loaders, excavators, generator sets, etc. Replaces older models 1W5290 and 4211558. Uses 3204 engine camshafts, main bearing caps, and oil nozzles.
Performance Parameters: Rated load ≥15 kN, coefficient of friction ≤0.005 (good lubrication conditions), Babbitt hardness HB20-25, steel backing tensile strength ≥450 MPa, impact strength ≥50 J/cm², oil flow rate ≥2 L/min, withstands camshaft speed ≤3000 rpm RPM
Structural and Performance Advantages: The low-carbon steel backing provides high-strength support, while the tin-based Babbitt alloy layer offers excellent anti-friction and embedding properties, effectively absorbing impurities, reducing camshaft wear, and adapting to high-load conditions in diesel engines, extending the service life of the camshaft and bearings.
The integrated ring structure and precise dimensional design ensure compatibility with the camshaft and bearing housing. Pressure lubrication ensures sufficient lubrication, reducing friction loss, improving valve train efficiency, and reducing engine energy consumption.
It can replace older models and is compatible with various 3204 engine series, offering strong versatility, convenient procurement and inventory management, reduced maintenance costs, and installation without complex adjustments, improving assembly efficiency.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the bearing housing and bearing, checking for cracks and burrs. Measure the interference fit between the bearing and bearing housing, and the clearance with the camshaft to ensure compliance. Use a special tool to press the bearing housing in, avoiding impact that could damage the alloy layer. After installation, check that the bearing rotates freely without jamming.
After installation, add the specified engine oil according to the engine manual. Pre-lubricate before starting. During the initial operation (first 50 hours), regularly check the oil pressure and temperature. If any abnormalities occur, troubleshoot promptly to prevent bearing damage due to poor lubrication.
Maintenance: Check the engine oil quality every 2000 hours. If alloy layer peeling, wear exceeding 0.1 mm, or loose bearings are found, replace immediately. When replacing, it is recommended to also check the camshaft wear to ensure the overall performance of the valve train. Do not mix camshaft bearings of different models.
