CAT 211-3332 is a Caterpillar transmission end cover, which is compatible with the power shift transmission second shaft end, hydraulic pump drive end, or differential housing of Cat 320/323 excavators, 966K/972K loaders, D6T bulldozers, and other models. It is used to seal the housing, protect the internal gears/bearings, and fix the seals. It is a key structural component for preventing oil leakage and foreign object intrusion in the transmission system. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes

Compatible Models and Applications
Compatible with Cat 320 Excavator gearbox shaft end caps, 323 excavator hydraulic pump drive end caps, 966K loader differential housing side caps, and D6T bulldozer gearbox rear end caps (one piece per location), installed at the end of the gearbox/differential housing to seal the oil and protect internal components.
Performance Parameters: Tensile strength ≥345 MPa, Yield strength ≥235 MPa, Surface hardness HB180-220, Sealing pressure ≤1.2 MPa, Bolt tightening torque 45-50 N・m, Impact resistance ≥50 J, Compatible oil type: SAE 10W-30/15W-40 gear oil.
Structural and Performance Advantages:
Double sealing for leak prevention: Integrated rubber sealing groove and sealant coating surface form an oil barrier after installation, suitable for gearbox oil pressure conditions below 1.2 MPa, effectively preventing gear oil leakage, and suitable for long-term sealing requirements under heavy-load vibration environments.
Reliable Structural Strength: Constructed from Q345B carbon steel with a 25mm thickness, it meets tensile and yield strength standards, offering strong impact resistance. It can withstand the radial loads and vibration impacts of the gearbox’s internal gears, preventing cover deformation and sealing failure.
Precise Positioning and Fit: The central positioning hole and rectangular mounting hole spacing design ensure precise matching with the housing’s positioning pins and bolt holes. After installation, coaxiality is ≤0.05mm, guaranteeing shaft system operating accuracy and preventing component wear caused by positioning deviations.
Weather-Resistant, Corrosion-Resistant, and Durable: The powder-coated surface withstands salt spray for ≥480 hours, making it suitable for harsh environments such as dusty and humid construction sites. This extends the cover’s service life and reduces maintenance and replacement frequency.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the sealing surface of the cover and the end face of the housing, checking for deformation of the cover and damage to the sealing groove. Install the O-ring (fitting model 123-4567, nitrile rubber) in the sealing groove. Apply CAT special sealant (model 5P-3931) evenly to the sealing surface. Align with the locating pin and tighten with M12×1.75 bolts (torque 45-50 N・m, symmetrical tightening). After installation, allow to stand for 24 hours before adding gear oil.
Every 2000 hours of maintenance: Check the cover bolts for looseness and for oil seepage on the sealing surface. If leakage occurs, clean the sealing surface again, replace the O-ring, reapply sealant, and tighten the bolts to the standard torque. If the cover is deformed (flatness deviation ≥0.1 mm) or cracked, replace it immediately.
Original parts should be used preferentially. Aftermarket parts may have problems such as insufficient material strength, large dimensional deviations, and low precision of sealing grooves, which can easily lead to seal failure, plate and cover deformation, and oil leakage, affecting the normal operation of the transmission.
