CAT 224-7349 is a heavy-duty wear-resistant bushing specifically designed for Caterpillar engineering machinery. It is suitable for the boom and connecting rod hinges of loaders, excavators, etc., used to withstand radial loads and reduce oscillating friction. The following is structured technical and application information from Cat® Parts:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 224-7349, Type: Bimetallic Composite Bushing, Material: Steel Back + High-Strength Brass (CuZn25Al5), Weight: Approximately 0.8 kg, Operating Temperature: -40℃ to +120℃, Suitable Operating Conditions: Low-speed oscillation, heavy-load radial force, no severe impact environment
Key Dimensions
Inner Diameter: 70 mm, Outer Diameter: 85 mm, Width: 50 mm, Steel Back Wall Thickness: 2 mm, Alloy Layer Thickness: 3 mm, Inner Hole Surface Roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, Outer Diameter Tolerance: h6, Inner Diameter Tolerance: H7, Cylindricity ≤0.015 mm, Parallelism of Both End Faces ≤0.02 mm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 950K/966K loader connecting rod hinge points, 320GC excavator boom cylinder pin bushings, and 140M grader steering linkage bushings. 2-6 pieces per machine. Suitable for radial loads ≤120 kN, swing angles ≤±45°, and linear speeds ≤0.8 m/s.
Performance Parameters: Coefficient of friction ≤0.12 (with lubrication), tensile strength ≥400 MPa, hardness HB 100-120, load capacity ≥20 MPa. Suitable lubrication method is grease lubrication; Cat 2C-9600 grease is recommended, with a lubrication cycle of every 1000 hours.
Structural and Performance Advantages:
Bimetallic structure: The steel backing provides high-strength support, while the high-strength brass alloy layer offers excellent wear resistance and self-lubrication, suitable for low-speed, heavy-load conditions at the articulation points of construction machinery, reducing pin wear and extending component lifespan.
**High Adaptability:** Standard size design, compatible with the hinge parts of various Caterpillar models, eliminating the need for customization, reducing spare parts inventory costs, and adapting to oscillating motion to meet the complex movement requirements of equipment.
**Easy Installation:** Interference fit installation; the bushing is pressed into the mounting hole using a dedicated pressing tool, requiring no complex adjustments. After installation, it offers good stability, is not prone to loosening, and reduces maintenance difficulty.
**Cost-Effectiveness:** Compared to rolling bearings, bushings have a simpler structure and lower cost. They also offer stronger impact resistance under low-speed oscillating conditions, resulting in higher cost-effectiveness.
**Installation and Maintenance Points:** Before installation, clean the mounting hole and pin surface to remove burrs and oil stains. Check the inner and outer surfaces of the bushing for scratches and deformation. During installation, use a hydraulic pressing tool to apply even pressure to press the bushing into the mounting hole. The pressure should be ≤30 kN to avoid localized stress that could cause deformation. After pressing, check the fit clearance between the bushing and the pin; the clearance value should be 0.04-0.08 mm.
** Lubrication Specifications: After installation, apply sufficient grease to the inner bore of the bushing, filling it to 1/3-1/2 of the bushing volume. Replenish the grease every 1000 hours, adding half the initial amount. Do not mix different types of grease.
Maintenance Cycle: Inspect the bushing for wear every 1500 hours. If the inner bore wear exceeds 0.3 mm, or if surface peeling, cracks, or other defects appear, replace it immediately. Avoid subjecting the bushing to axial loads to prevent end face wear.
