The CAT 280-1913 is a bearing retainer used by Caterpillar for hydraulic pumps, gearboxes, and other transmission components. It is compatible with the hydraulic systems of Cat 320D/E and 336D/E excavators and some loaders. Its core function is to accurately position the outer ring of the bearing, prevent axial movement, and ensure stable operation of the transmission components. The following is structured technical and application information:

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 280-1913, Type: Bearing Positioner, Material: 42CrMo alloy steel, tempered, hardness HRC32-38, galvanized passivation for corrosion protection, weight approximately 0.6 kg, operating temperature: -40℃ to +150℃, installation torque: 45-55 N・m, compatible bolt size: M12×1.5 (8.8 grade)

Key Dimensions
Inner diameter: 100.0 mm (tolerance 0/+0.02 mm), outer diameter: 140.0 mm (tolerance 0/-0.015 mm), thickness: 18.0 mm (tolerance ±0.10 mm), positioning step height: 5.0 mm, number of bolt holes: 6, hole spacing diameter: 120.0 mm, bolt hole diameter: 12.5 mm (tolerance +0.10/+0.05 mm) 0.02-0.04 mm clearance with the bearing outer ring, and ≤0.03 mm flatness with the bearing housing. Suitable for Cat 320D/E, 336D/E, 349D/E excavators, 980M loaders, etc., used in hydraulic pump spindle bearings, gearbox input shaft bearings, etc., with tapered roller bearings (e.g., 276-4690/4691). Suitable for medium-high speed and medium load transmission conditions. Performance parameters: Rated axial load capacity ≥80 kN, anti-migration clearance ≤0.05 mm, impact strength ≥80 J/cm², corrosion resistance reaches ISO 9227 neutral salt spray test (48 hours no rust), fatigue life ≥5000 hours (normal operating conditions). Structural and performance advantages: 42CrMo Made of alloy steel and heat-treated, this material combines high strength with good toughness, effectively withstanding axial loads and impacts. It is suitable for harsh working conditions in engineering machinery, reducing the risk of deformation and breakage.

Precise positioning steps and bolt hole design ensure accurate axial positioning of the bearing outer ring, preventing axial movement during operation, reducing vibration and noise, and improving transmission efficiency and component lifespan.

Galvanized passivation treatment provides excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for humid, dusty, and other harsh operating environments, extending the service life of the retainer.

Standardized design facilitates easy installation, with strong compatibility with original bearings and bearing housings, resulting in low maintenance and replacement costs and ensuring high equipment uptime.

Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the retainer, bearing housing, and bearing outer ring surface, checking for cracks and burrs; measure the fit clearance to ensure it meets requirements; use a torque wrench to evenly tighten the bolts to a torque of 45-55 N·m, avoiding uneven loading that could cause deformation.

After installation, check that the bearing rotates freely without jamming, and that axial movement is ≤0.05 mm. Ensure the lubrication system is unobstructed, and regularly check the oil temperature and level; the oil temperature should not exceed 85℃.

Maintenance: Every 2000 hours, check the tightness and wear of the retainer bolts. If the bolts are loose or the retainer is deformed or cracked, replace it immediately. Use genuine parts for replacement; do not mix parts of different models.
