CAT 298-6863 is a Caterpillar genuine heavy-duty wear-resistant bushing, widely used in loaders and skid steer loaders in areas such as articulation pins, boom/stick connections, and tilt cylinder lugs. Its core function is to reduce friction at articulation points, absorb impacts, and withstand radial loads, ensuring smooth component rotation and stable operation.
Cat® 298-6863 is a genuine Caterpillar heavy-duty wear-resistant bushing. Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 298-6863 Heavy-Duty Wear-Resistant Bushing
Material: Alloy structural steel (42CrMo), surface hardening hardness HRC 58-62, inner hole optional molybdenum disulfide coating to enhance wear resistance and self-lubrication
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 45mm, outer diameter approx. 55mm, length approx. 42mm, wall thickness 5mm, chamfer at both ends r≈1.5mm, compatible with 45mm diameter pins Cat®…
Compatible Models: Commonly compatible with 242D/246D skid steer loaders, 906M/907M mini loaders, and 303.5E2 compact excavators for boom articulation, tilt cylinder lugs, steering pins, etc.
Performance Characteristics High hardness and wear resistance, suitable for heavy-duty and high-frequency vibration conditions. The molybdenum disulfide coating reduces the coefficient of friction, minimizing wear on pins and bushings and extending component lifespan.
Core Functions and Structure
Friction and Shock Absorption: The bushing, acting as an intermediary between the pin and the mounting base, reduces frictional loss during relative rotation and absorbs impact loads during operation, protecting the pin and machine structure from deformation or breakage.
Radial Load Bearing: The alloy steel structure can withstand radial loads from components such as the boom and cylinders, meeting the high-intensity operation requirements of construction machinery and ensuring stable rotation of articulated parts (Cat®…).
Self-Lubrication and Protection: The molybdenum disulfide coating on the inner bore provides self-lubrication, reducing grease dependence and preventing dust and moisture intrusion, suitable for complex outdoor conditions and reducing maintenance frequency.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Before installation, clean the pin, bushing, and mounting base to remove oil, rust, and impurities; check that the bushing dimensions match the mounting base, ensuring no deformation or cracks.
Install using cold pressing or heating (heating temperature ≤120℃). Use specialized tooling to press the bushing into the mounting base. Do not strike directly with a hammer to prevent bushing deformation.
After installation, check the clearance between the bushing and the pin to ensure smooth, unobstructed rotation. Tighten the pin fixing bolts to the torque specified in the manual to prevent loosening.
Maintenance Recommendations: Every 800-1200 working hours, check the bushing for wear, loosening, or abnormal noise. Inspect the inner hole coating for integrity. Replace immediately if wear exceeds 0.5mm.
Regularly apply lithium-based grease to maintain adequate lubrication between the pin and bushing, preventing premature wear caused by dry friction and adapting to harsh operating environments.
