CAT 2S-8359 is a Caterpillar genuine straight-tube positioning sleeve, suitable for diesel engine valve mechanisms/fuel systems, used for positioning or guiding critical components. The following are precise original part information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 2S-8359 (2S8359) Straight-tube positioning sleeve, weight approx. 0.18 kg (0.4 lb), suitable for engine valve guide/injector positioning
Core Material: 42CrMo chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, overall tempered + surface hardened, hardness HRC 58-62, inner bore precision ground (Ra≤0.4 μm), fatigue and wear resistant, suitable for high-temperature vibration conditions
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 25.4 mm (1.00 in), outer diameter 31.75 mm (1.25 in), length 44.45 mm (1.75 in), no oil groove/hole, straight tube without flange, suitable for H7 Tolerance Mounting Hole
Structural Features: Straight cylindrical design with no steps; inner and outer circle coaxiality ≤0.01 mm; end face perpendicularity ≤0.01 mm. Used for positioning valve guide/injector mounting holes to prevent radial movement of components.
Compatible Models: Compatible with CAT 3306/3406C diesel engines (valve cover/injector seat positioning sleeve), D6D/D6E bulldozers, 950G/962G loaders (engine valve mechanism positioning).
Accessories: Compatible with valve guide 2S-8360, sealing ring 2S-8361, positioning pin 2S-8362.
Core Functions and Installation Points:
Positioning and Guiding: Used for positioning engine valve guides or injector mounting holes, limiting radial movement, ensuring valve/injector movement accuracy, and suitable for long-term stable operation under high temperature and vibration conditions.
Installation Specifications:
Clean the mounting hole and sleeve surface. The mounting hole inner diameter tolerance should be H7, and the surface roughness Ra ≤ 1.6 μm. Remove oil, rust, and burrs.
Use cold pressing or hot oil (80-100°C) for hot fitting. Do not hammer. Ensure the sleeve fits snugly against the mounting hole without gaps.
After installation, check the end face runout to ≤ 0.05 mm and the inner hole roundness to ≤ 0.03 mm to ensure alignment accuracy.
Maintenance Recommendations:
Check the fit clearance every 1500 working hours. If it exceeds 0.15 mm, replace the original sleeve and guide/injector assembly to avoid abnormal noise or component jamming.
Use a dedicated puller for disassembly to prevent sleeve deformation or inner hole damage, which could affect reusability.
