The CAT 325-6227 GD blower trunnion is a core support component of Caterpillar’s cooling system. It accommodates the oscillation and positioning of the engine blower/fan, connects the blower bracket to the machine body, bears radial loads and slight oscillations, and is suitable for high-temperature and vibration conditions of equipment such as excavators and loaders. It features high strength, wear resistance and impact resistance characteristics of Cat® Parts. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 325-6227 GD, Material 4140 alloy steel (quenched and tempered, hardness HRC 28-32), Single weight approximately 0.85 kg, Operating temperature -30℃ to +150℃, Load type: radial load + oscillating load, Surface treatment: blackened oxide + rust-preventive oil, Lubrication method: grease lubrication (recommended Cat 2V-9822 grease), Design life ≥10000 hours (normal operating conditions)
Key Dimensions
Spindle diameter 35 mm (tolerance 0/-0.022 mm, h7 tolerance), Overall length 85 mm (tolerance 0/-0.15 mm), Shoulder diameter 50 mm, Shoulder thickness 10 mm, Mounting hole diameter 12 mm (tolerance +0.015/0 mm), Chamfer at both ends 1×45°, Surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, cylindricity ≤0.02 mm, coaxiality ≤0.015 mm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 320D/323D excavators (C7.1 engine blower), 950GC loaders (C9.3 engine fan bracket), with matching 5P-8353 seals, 235-9768 retaining rings, and 1U-0210 bearings.
Rated Load: Radial rated dynamic load Cr=55 kN, radial rated static load Cor=140 kN, allowable swing angle ±8°, allowable linear velocity ≤0.8 m/s (grease lubrication), impact load ≥45 kN, ultimate pressure ≥380 MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages: The 4140 alloy steel structure is heat-treated, combining high strength and toughness, suitable for high-frequency swing and vibration conditions of blowers, reducing the risk of deformation and breakage.
The integrated shoulder positioning design ensures no axial movement after installation, and the high coaxiality between the spindle and the shoulder guarantees smooth blower operation and reduces vibration and noise.
The anodized black surface treatment enhances rust resistance, and the chamfered ends facilitate alignment of mating parts during installation, preventing scratches to seals and simplifying the assembly process.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the trunnion, mounting base, and matching bearings, checking for cracks, rust, and deformation. Measure the inner diameter of the spindle (35 mm, h7 tolerance) and bearings to ensure an interference fit of 0.012-0.028 mm.
Cold press installation is used. Apply pressure evenly to the shoulder end face using a special press tool. Do not strike the spindle surface. After installation, check for flexible movement; there should be no jamming or abnormal noise, and axial movement should be ≤0.1 mm.
Maintenance and Replacement: Check the wear and lubrication condition every 1000 hours. If the spindle wear is greater than 0.25 mm or scratches/peeling appear on the surface, replace it immediately. It is recommended to replace it at the same time as the bearings and seals to ensure support accuracy and sealing effect.
