CAT 355-2418 (3552418) is a Caterpillar double-row tapered roller bearing, suitable for drive axle differentials or steering knuckles of wheel loaders/excavators. It is used to withstand high radial and bidirectional axial combined loads, ensuring smooth transmission and positioning under heavy-duty conditions. The following are the core information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 355-2418 (3552418) Double-row Tapered Roller Bearing (Suitable for drive axle differentials/steering knuckles, withstands radial and bidirectional axial loads)
Core Materials: Inner ring/outer ring: Chromium bearing steel (GCr15, HRC 60–64), Rollers: GCr15SiMn quenched and tempered steel (HRC 58–62), Cage: Stamped steel sheet (SPCC) + phenolic resin coating, Grease: Lithium-based grease (NLGI 2, -20℃ to +120℃)
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 100 Dimensions: mm, outer diameter 180 mm, width 63 mm, cone angle 12°, 28 rollers (double-row evenly distributed), mounting hole spacing 200 mm (compatible with M16×2 bolts), 2 lubrication holes (5 mm diameter, evenly distributed).
Single weight: Approx. 4.2 kg (9.26 lb).
Compatible models: CAT 950M/966M wheel loaders (drive axle differential), 320GC/323GC excavators (steering knuckle). Used for drive/steering components under heavy load conditions, bearing radial + bidirectional axial combined loads to ensure smooth transmission and positioning accuracy.
Operating conditions: Rated radial load 240 kN, rated axial load 180 kN, limiting speed 3000 rpm, operating temperature -30℃ to +120℃, suitable for dusty/… Complex working conditions on construction sites such as those involving crushed stone
Core Functions and Structural Features
Double-row load bearing: Symmetrically arranged double-row tapered rollers simultaneously bear high radial loads and bidirectional axial loads, adapting to the complex stress conditions of the drive axle differential and suppressing shaft movement.
Precise preload positioning: Factory preload of 0.02–0.05 mm ensures zero clearance after installation, guaranteeing the positioning accuracy of the differential/steering knuckle and reducing transmission shock and noise.
Impact and wear resistance: Bearing steel material with quenching treatment, impact load resistance of 320 kN, ultra-precision ground roller surface (Ra≤0.08 μm) reduces friction and wear, extending service life.
Sealing protection: Double-lip skeleton seal (nitrile rubber NBR), dustproof and waterproof rating IP65, preventing construction dust and mud from entering the bearing, suitable for heavy-duty and humid conditions.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications
Clean the mounting surfaces of the shaft and bearing housing, ensuring they are free of rust, oil, and burrs. Shaft diameter tolerance: -0.01–0 mm; bearing housing tolerance: +0.01–+0.03 mm. Ensure precise fit.
Hot mounting (oil temperature 80–90℃, heating time 20–30 min) or cold pressing installation. Do not strike the bearing end face to avoid damage to the raceway/rollers.
Use M16×2 bolts (grade 10.9) to symmetrically tighten the bearing housing, with a torque of 95–100 N・m, ensuring uniform preload.
Maintenance Recommendations
Inspect every 1000 working hours: Check for abnormal noises, abnormal temperature (≤80℃), damaged seals, and grease leaks. If any problems are found, replenish lubrication or replace the affected bearing immediately.
Before long-term storage (>30 days), rotate the bearing 5–8 times to ensure the grease evenly covers the raceway, preventing dry friction and corrosion.
When replacing parts, prioritize CAT original parts or YM/SEM quality parts of the same specifications to ensure load compatibility and preload accuracy.
