CAT 422-9525 (4229525) YM is a Caterpillar steel-backed bronze bimetallic sleeve bearing (Sleeve Bearing/Bushing). It is primarily designed for use on CAT 320D/323D excavators, 966H loaders, and other models in boom/stick/bucket pins and connecting rod hinges. It is used to withstand radial heavy loads and low-speed oscillations, reducing friction and wear between the pin and support, and ensuring smooth operation of the hinged parts. The following are the core information:

Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 422-9525 (4229525) YM Steel-backed Bronze Bimetallic Sleeve Bearing, Straight, Grooveless, Suitable for Heavy-Duty Hinged Pins
Core Material: Steel backing (Q235 low-carbon steel, 2 mm thickness) + bronze alloy (CuPb10Sn10, 3 mm thickness), bronze layer contains solid lubricant, surface porous treatment, self-lubricating + wear-resistant + Impact resistant, suitable for low-speed, heavy-load conditions.

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 80 mm, outer diameter 90 mm, total length 50 mm, wall thickness 5 mm, chamfered ends 1.5×45°, no internal/external grooves, no lubrication holes, compatible shaft diameter 80 mm, installation tolerance H7/h6.

Single Weight: Approx. 1.2 kg.

Compatible Machines: CAT 320D/320D2/323D/329D excavators (boom/stick/bucket articulation pins), 966H/980H loaders (boom/tilt cylinder connecting rod pins), 420D backhoe loaders (turntable/boom articulation), for low-speed, heavy-load, and frequently oscillating articulation parts.

Working Fit: Maximum radial load 80 kN, maximum surface speed 0.8 m/s, operating temperature -20℃ to + 120℃, compatible with mineral oil-based grease (NLGI Grade 2), capable of withstanding impact loads and vibrations under heavy-duty conditions.

Core Functions and Structural Features:

Heavy-duty and Wear-resistant: A bimetallic structure of steel backing and bronze. The steel backing provides high-strength support, while the bronze layer offers excellent friction reduction and embedding properties, suitable for low-speed, heavy-duty articulated applications. It can withstand continuous radial loads and impacts during excavator/loader operation, preventing wear on pins and supports, and extending component life (Cat®…).

Self-lubricating and Maintenance-free: The bronze layer contains solid lubricant, and its porous surface treatment stores grease, reducing the coefficient of friction and lubrication frequency, meeting the maintenance needs of complex on-site conditions.

Precise Positioning and Installation: Straight grooveless design, inner diameter tolerance H7, outer diameter tolerance h6, interference fit with supports (0.02–0.04 mm), clearance fit with pins (0.05–0.08 mm), ensuring high coaxiality after installation and reducing wobbling and noise at the articulated joint.

Impact and Deformation Resistance: The tightly bonded bimetallic composite structure provides strong impact resistance, adapting to vibrations and load fluctuations in engineering machinery operation. It prevents sleeve bearing cracking and deformation, ensuring stable operation of the hinged joint.

Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Clean the bearing, pin, and support hole, removing burrs, metal filings, and oil. The surface roughness of the support hole should be Ra≤1.6 μm to avoid damaging the bronze layer during installation.

Install using cold pressing or heated support (≤100℃). Do not directly strike the bearing to prevent separation of the steel backing from the bronze layer. After installation, the bearing end face should be flush with the support hole end face, without misalignment.

After installation, apply NLGI Grade 2 lithium-based grease to ensure sufficient lubrication between the pin and bearing, reducing friction and wear.

Maintenance Recommendations: Check every 500 working hours: Inspect bearing inner diameter wear >0.2 mm, bronze layer peeling, steel backing deformation or cracking. Replace immediately if any problems are found.

When replacing parts, prioritize YM-certified components to ensure that the bimetallic joint strength, bronze layer thickness, and dimensional accuracy meet standards. This avoids the rapid wear of the pin and increased clearance at the hinge point caused by ordinary single-metal sleeves.

Simultaneously check the surface hardness (HRC≥50) and roughness of the pin. Repair or replace the pin if necessary to ensure the fitting accuracy of the hinge point and reduce the risk of secondary failures.
