CAT 464-8391 is a Caterpillar genuine C-series precision bearing assembly, primarily used in the articulated parts (such as boom, stick, and connecting rod) of small and medium-sized excavators and loaders. It bears radial and light axial loads, ensuring smooth rotation of the articulated parts. The following are core original specifications and application information, excluding replacement parts (Cat®)…
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 464-8391 (BEARING AS-C, C Series Bearing Assembly)
Product Type: Sealed composite bearing assembly, including bearing body, seal, dust cover, compatible with hinge pins/shafts
Material: Bearing sleeve: steel back + copper-lead alloy + PTFE self-lubricating layer; Seal: Nitrile rubber (NBR); Dust cover: cold-rolled steel plate
Surface Treatment: Bearing sleeve surface is precision ground and treated with a self-lubricating coating; dust cover is galvanized and passivated.
Hardness: Bearing sleeve steel back HRC 30–35, copper-lead alloy layer HB 180–220, PTFE layer low coefficient of friction
Single Weight: Approx. 1.2 kg (2.65 lbs)
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 40–45 mm, outer diameter 60–65 mm, width 30–35 mm, compatible with corresponding hinge pins and mounting holes
Match Requirements: Compatible with shaft diameter tolerances 0.02–0.05 mm, mounting hole tolerance H7, recommended radial clearance 0.08–0.12 mm
Operating temperature -30℃ ~ +100℃
Load capacity: Rated radial load ≥ 80 kN, suitable for smooth rotation and low-impact articulated applications.
Lubrication method: Self-lubricating + supplementary lubrication dual mode; PTFE layer reduces lubrication dependence, suitable for harsh operating conditions.
Sealing performance: Double-lip seal + dust cover, effectively preventing mud, water, and dust intrusion, extending service life.
Structure and core characteristics: Composite self-lubricating structure: Steel backing provides high-strength support; copper-lead alloy layer enhances load-bearing capacity and thermal conductivity; PTFE self-lubricating layer reduces the coefficient of friction, suitable for articulated parts without continuous lubrication or with poor lubrication conditions, reducing wear and abnormal noise.
Integrated sealing protection: Pre-installed seals and dust covers at the factory, eliminating the need for additional seal purchases; quickly forms a protective barrier after installation, reducing maintenance frequency and improving component reliability.
Highly Compatible
Compatible with Caterpillar 305.5E2, 306E2, 307E2 and other small-tonnage excavators, as well as 906H, 907H, 908H and other medium-sized loaders, for boom and stick hinges, connecting rod and bucket hinges, offering high versatility.
Compatible Models and Application Scenarios
Excavators: For small-tonnage models such as 305.5E2, 306E2, 307E2, 308E2, etc., used for hinge bearings in the boom, stick, and connecting rod, replacing worn bearings to solve rotational jamming and abnormal noise problems.
Loaders: For medium-sized models such as 906H, 907H, 908H, 909H, etc., compatible with hinges between the boom and frame, rocker arm and connecting rod, ensuring flexible and stable rotation during operation.
Core Applications: Restores rotational accuracy to hinged joints, resolving issues such as excessive clearance, sluggish movement, and uneven component wear caused by bearing wear. Suitable for low to medium loads and stable operation.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation: Clean the mounting holes and hinge pins, removing rust, oil, and impurities to ensure a tight fit between the bearing and the component.
Use cold-press installation. Use specialized tooling to smoothly press the bearing into the mounting hole, avoiding impacts that could deform the bearing or damage the seal.
After installation, check for smooth rotation without jamming or abnormal noise. Confirm that the seal ring and dust cover are properly installed.
Maintenance: Check the seal condition and rotational clearance every 300 hours. Replace the bearing immediately if the clearance exceeds 0.2 mm or the seal fails.
Replenish with grease every 500 hours (CAT lithium-based grease recommended). Shorten the maintenance cycle for harsh operating conditions.
Avoid heavy-load impact operations to prevent bearing sleeve deformation or self-lubricating layer detachment, which could affect performance.
