CAT 480-6610 (4806610) is a Caterpillar self-aligning spherical sliding bearing, suitable for the boom, stick, and connecting rod hinges of loaders/excavators. It can absorb angular deviations (≤5°) between the shaft and the mounting hole, eliminate deflection stress, and ensure smooth rotation of the hinged parts. The following are the core information:

Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 480-6610 (4806610) Self-aligning spherical sliding bearing (replaces some 480-6604 models, suitable for hinge angle compensation)

Core Materials: Outer ring: Q345B alloy steel plate (8 mm thick), Inner ring: 42CrMo tempered steel (HRC 30–35), Sliding surface: copper alloy (CuPb24Sn4) + polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite layer (0.8 mm thick), self-lubricating + oil lubrication dual mode

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 120 mm, Outer diameter… 180 mm in diameter, 65 mm in width, 90 mm in radius of curvature, ±5° angle compensation range, 200 mm in mounting hole spacing (compatible with M16×2 bolts), 4 lubrication holes (6 mm in diameter, evenly distributed)

Single weight: Approx. 3.8 kg

Compatible models: CAT 966M/972M wheel loaders (boom-stick articulated), 320GC/323GC excavators (stick-link articulated), used to absorb angular deviations at the articulation points during operation, reducing off-center wear on the shaft and bearings.

Operating adaptability: Operating temperature -20℃ to +120℃, rated radial load 120 kN, rated axial load 40 kN, friction coefficient ≤0.08 under self-lubricating conditions, suitable for dusty/gravel work environments.

Core functions and structural features:

Automatic angle compensation: Spherical inner and outer ring fit, within ±5°… Automatic self-alignment within a specified range absorbs coaxiality deviations between the shaft and mounting hole, eliminates deflection stress, prevents overload wear on bearing edges, and adapts to dynamic angle changes under heavy-load conditions.

Dual lubrication mode: The sliding surface composite PTFE layer achieves self-lubrication, combined with grease injection (lithium-based NLGI 2) into the lubrication hole, adapting to high-frequency oscillation/low-speed heavy-load conditions and extending maintenance intervals (500 working hours lubrication interval).

Impact and wear resistant: Inner ring 42CrMo tempered steel + outer ring Q345B steel plate, resisting impact loads of 180 kN. The composite sliding layer resists fretting wear, adapting to complex on-site conditions and reducing the risk of component failure.

Precise installation and positioning: The outer ring has a positioning shoulder, preventing circumferential rotation after installation, ensuring alignment between the lubrication hole and grease injection channel, ensuring lubrication effect, and extending bearing life.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation Specifications
Clean the mounting holes and shaft surfaces, ensuring they are free of burrs, rust, and oil. Shaft diameter tolerance: -0.02–0 mm; mounting hole tolerance: +0.01–+0.03 mm. Ensure a proper spherical fit.

Tighten symmetrically with two M16×2 bolts (grade 8.8) at a torque of 85–90 N·m to avoid localized stress that could cause outer ring deformation.

After installation, inject lithium-based grease (NLGI 2) until grease overflows from the lubrication holes to ensure adequate lubrication of the sliding surfaces.

Maintenance Recommendations
Check every 500 working hours: for abnormal noises, looseness, blocked lubrication holes, and peeling of the composite layer. If any problems are found, promptly grease or replace the bearing.

Before long-term storage (>30 days), replenish grease and rotate the bearing 3–5 times to prevent dry friction and corrosion of the sliding surfaces.

When replacing bearings, prioritize CAT original parts or SEM/GD quality parts of the same specifications to ensure angle compensation and load compatibility.
