CAT 496-2239 is a Caterpillar genuine heavy-duty steel bushing, commonly used in the boom, stick, or connecting rod hinges of loaders, excavators, and other equipment. It provides wear resistance, friction reduction, and positioning, is suitable for high-frequency oscillation and heavy-duty conditions, and protects the pins and hinge holes. The following are key information.
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 496-2239 (Steel Straight Cylindrical Bushing, Single Set)
Material: Low-carbon alloy steel, inner hole hardened + nitrided, surface hardness HRC 60-64, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant; outer circle phosphated for rust prevention
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 50mm (1.969in), outer diameter 65mm (2.559in), length 70mm (2.756in), inner hole tolerance H7, outer circle tolerance g6, compatible with φ50mm pin Cat®…
Single Weight: Approx. 0.75kg (1.65 lbs)
Compatible Machines: Boom-stick, stick-bucket, connecting rod-rocker arm and other articulated parts of CAT 950H/966H loaders, 320D/323D excavators, D6N bulldozers, etc.
Performance Characteristics Rated radial load ≥80kN, friction coefficient ≤0.15, operating temperature -40℃ to +120℃, suitable for harsh working conditions such as dust and mud, resistant to impact and fatigue.
Structure and Core Functions
Wear Protection: Hardened inner hole treatment increases wear life by 3-5 times compared to ordinary steel bushings, preventing direct wear between the pin and the hinge hole, reducing maintenance frequency and costs.
Precise Positioning: Interference fit between the outer diameter and the hinge hole, and clearance fit between the inner hole and the pin (0.05-0.1mm), ensuring the movement accuracy of the hinged components and reducing oscillation clearance and abnormal noise.
Friction Reduction and Buffering: Lubricated grease on the smooth inner hole surface reduces friction between the pin and the bushing, buffers impact loads, protects the hinged structure, and improves operational smoothness.
Convenient Maintenance: Integrated structure, installation/replacement does not require disassembly of complex parts, suitable for rapid on-site maintenance, shortening downtime.
Suitable Scenarios and Installation/Maintenance Points
Suitable Scenarios: Used for articulated parts of booms, sticks, buckets, etc., in construction machinery. Suitable for heavy-duty, high-frequency swinging, and dusty/muddy working conditions in mining and infrastructure projects, ensuring reliable operation of the articulated structure.
Installation Specifications: Clean the articulation holes and pins, ensuring they are free of burrs, oil, and rust. Install using cold pressing or hot fitting (heat the bushing to 80-100℃). Avoid forceful hammering that could cause deformation.
After installation, apply lithium-based grease to ensure adequate lubrication of the inner bore. Tighten the pin bolts to the torque specified in the equipment manual (typically 80-120 N·m).
Maintenance Recommendations: Check bushing wear every 500 working hours. If inner bore wear exceeds 0.2mm, or if surface peeling or cracks appear, replace the bushing to prevent damage to the pin and articulation hole.
Regularly apply grease (once every 100 working hours) to maintain inner bore lubrication and extend the life of the bushing and pin.
When storing for an extended period, apply anti-rust grease to prevent corrosion of the bushing’s inner bore from affecting assembly accuracy.
