Installation and Maintenance Points
Installation Specifications: Remove the valve cover while the engine is cold. Rotate the crankshaft to top dead center of the compression stroke and measure the valve clearance. Select a 4T-4533 shim of the appropriate thickness based on the measurement and install it on top of the valve tappet, ensuring the shim is flat and not tilted.
After installation, measure the valve clearance again and adjust it to the standard range (0.25-0.35mm when cold). Tighten the valve cover bolts to a torque of 25-30 N·m to prevent oil leaks.
Maintenance Recommendations: Check the valve clearance every 2000 operating hours. Replace the shim promptly if it exceeds the standard range to avoid problems such as poor valve sealing, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption.
When replacing the shim, clean the contact surfaces of the valve tappet and rocker arm. Check the shim for scratches and deformation, ensuring a tight fit and precise clearance after installation.
