CAT 527-7485 YM is a Caterpillar original equipment universal tie rod assembly (YM is the specification/batch identifier) used in the steering systems of wheeled construction machinery to transmit steering force and ensure steering accuracy. The following is pure raw data and does not include replacement parts information for Cat®…

Core Technical Parameters (Raw Data)

Item Details
Basic Attributes Model 527-7485 YM, Type: Tie Rod Assembly, Material: 42CrMo Alloy Steel (Quenched and Tempered), Single Weight: 3.2 kg, Operating Temperature: -40℃ to +120℃, Rated Tensile Strength: 1200 MPa, Rated Torsional Strength: 950 MPa, Suitable Steering System Operating Pressure: ≤16 MPa (Cat®)…

Key Dimensions (Metric/Imperial): Overall Length: 850 mm (33.46 in), Rod Diameter: 32 mm (1.26 in), Thread Specifications at Both Ends: M30×2, Ball Joint Diameter: 25 mm (0.98 in), Ball Joint Swing Angle: ±30°, Rod Straightness Tolerance: ≤0.5 mm/m, Thread Coaxiality Tolerance at Both Ends: ≤0.1 mm

Performance Parameters: Rod Hardness: HB 280-320, Ball Joint Surface Hardness: HRC 58-62, ball joint pin surface roughness Ra≤0.08 μm, dust cover material nitrile rubber (NBR), suitable for front axle track range 1800-2200 mm.
Structure and Compatibility Characteristics:

Steering Accuracy Guarantee: One-piece alloy steel rod body + adjustable ball joint design at both ends ensures efficient transmission of steering force, suitable for the steering systems of wheeled construction machinery such as loaders and excavators, ensuring steering stability during driving and operation.

Wear Resistance and Protection: The ball joint is hardened to improve wear resistance, and the nitrile rubber dust cover effectively prevents dust and moisture intrusion, extending the service life of the ball joint, suitable for harsh working conditions such as dusty and humid environments.

Machine Compatibility: Compatible with the front axle steering mechanisms of wheeled equipment such as Caterpillar 950M and 966M loaders, 320GC and 336GC excavators, used to connect the left and right steering knuckles to achieve synchronous wheel steering.

Installation and Maintenance Points (Original Data)

Installation: Clean the tie rod and ball joint surfaces, checking for thread damage and ensuring the ball joint moves freely without jamming. Before installation, apply lithium-based grease (NLGI 2) to the ball joint pin.

Tighten the nuts at both ends to the specified torque (180-200 N·m). After installation, adjust the tie rod length to ensure the front wheel toe-in is within 0-2 mm.

After installation, check that the ball joint dust cover is intact, without damage or leakage, ensuring effective protection.

Maintenance: Inspect the tie rod assembly every 1000 hours. Replace immediately if the ball joint looseness is >0.5 mm or the dust cover is damaged.

Replenish grease at the ball joint grease fitting every 500 hours to ensure adequate lubrication and prevent dry friction that leads to accelerated wear.
