CAT 538-6705 SEM is a heavy-duty rolling bearing for Caterpillar engineering machinery. It is suitable for planetary gears, differentials, and other components in the transmission systems of loaders, excavators, etc., and is used to withstand radial and bidirectional axial loads. The following is structured technical and application information:

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model: 538-6705 SEM; Type: Single-row deep groove ball bearing; Material: High-carbon chromium bearing steel (52100); Weight: Approximately 0.45 kg; Operating Temperature: -30℃ to +150℃; Suitable Operating Conditions: Low to medium speed rotation, heavy-duty radial load; Can withstand slight bidirectional axial loads.

Key Dimensions
Inner Diameter: 65 mm; Outer Diameter: 120 mm; Width: 23 mm; Chamfer Radius: R1.5 mm; Inner Bore Surface Roughness: Ra≤0.8 μm; Outer Diameter Tolerance: h6; Inner Diameter Tolerance: H7; Cylindricity: ≤0.01 mm; Straightness: ≤0.008 mm, parallelism of both end faces ≤0.015 mm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 950M/966M loader planetary gear set, 320GC excavator boom reduction gearbox differential, 1-2 pieces per machine, suitable for radial load ≤120 kN, axial load ≤20 kN, speed ≤2000 rpm

Performance Parameters: Dynamic rated load Cr≥58 kN, static rated load Cor≥35 kN, coefficient of friction ≤0.0015 (grease lubrication), hardness HRC 60-64, recommended Cat 2C-9600 grease, lubrication cycle every 1500 hours, sealing type is double-sided contact rubber seal (2RS)

Structural and Performance Advantages:
Material and Process: High carbon chromium bearing steel, quenched and tempered, possesses high hardness and wear resistance, suitable for low-speed, heavy-load conditions in engineering machinery transmission systems. The double-sided sealing design effectively prevents dust and moisture intrusion, extending service life.

Load Adaptability: Deep groove ball bearings can simultaneously withstand radial and bidirectional axial loads, adapting to the complex stress requirements of planetary gears, differentials, and other components. They operate smoothly with low noise and minimal vibration.

Easy Installation: Standardized dimensions and interference fit installation eliminate the need for complex adjustments. After installation, they offer good stability, are less prone to loosening, and reduce maintenance difficulty.

Cost-Effectiveness: Compared to cylindrical roller bearings, they have a simpler structure and lower cost. They offer better cost-effectiveness under simultaneous radial and axial load conditions, with lower maintenance costs.

Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the mounting hole and shaft diameter to remove burrs and oil. Check the bearing’s inner and outer surfaces for scratches and deformation. During installation, use a dedicated pressing tool to apply even pressure to press the bearing into the mounting hole. The pressure should be ≤50 kN to avoid localized stress that could cause deformation. After pressing, check the bearing-shaft clearance; the clearance value should be 0.02-0.05 mm.

Lubrication Specifications: After installation, fill the bearing with sufficient grease, filling it to 1/3-1/2 of its volume. Replenish the grease every 1500 hours, adding half the initial amount. Do not mix different types of grease.

Maintenance Cycle: Inspect the bearing for wear every 2000 hours. If the inner bore wear exceeds 0.15 mm, or if surface peeling, cracks, or other defects appear, replace the bearing immediately. Avoid subjecting the bearing to severe impact loads to prevent damage to the rolling elements.
