CAT 539-2442 is a Caterpillar original stamped outer ring full complement needle roller bearing, suitable for planetary gears or shaft supports in planetary gear mechanisms such as gearboxes, transfer cases, and final drives. It provides high radial load capacity within limited installation space and is a core wear component in compact drive systems, suitable for medium-to-low speed, heavy-duty operating conditions.

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Part Model CAT 539-2442 Stamped Outer Ring Full Complement Needle Roller Bearing (Outer Ring + Needle Rollers, No Cage, Can be Matched with Inner Ring/Journal as Raceway)

Material: Outer ring is stamped from low carbon steel; needle rollers are made of high carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15), surface hardened to HRC 61-65, wear-resistant and fatigue-resistant, suitable for heavy-duty impact conditions.

Key Dimensions: Inner diameter approx. 40-50mm, outer diameter approx. 55-65mm, width approx. 20-30mm, weight approx. 0.2-0.5kg (subject to actual product/manual), interference fit with journal, precise tolerances.

Compatible Models: Loaders 966K/980M, Excavators 320D2/336D2, Bulldozers D6N, etc., used for gearbox planetary carriers, final drive planetary gears, and transfer case output shaft support.

Performance Characteristics Full complement needle roller design offers high radial load capacity, a compact and space-saving structure, and allows for direct inner ring application to journals. It features a low coefficient of friction, impact resistance, and suitability for low-to-medium speed (≤3000 rpm) applications.

Core Functions and Structure:

High Radial Load Capacity: Full complement needle rollers provide multiple contact points, making them suitable for components with concentrated radial loads, such as planetary gears. They withstand heavy loads and impact loads, ensuring stable transmission.

Compact Space Adaptation: The thin stamped outer ring and small needle roller diameter achieve high load capacity within limited radial space, making them suitable for compact mechanisms such as gearboxes and final drives.

Direct Raceway Application to Journals: The inner ring can be omitted, using hardened journals as raceways, simplifying the structure and reducing costs. However, the surface hardness and roughness of the journals must meet standards (HRC≥60, Ra≤0.8μm).

Grinding Reduction and Positioning: The low rolling friction of the needle rollers reduces component wear and provides radial positioning for the shaft/planetary gears, preventing eccentric operation and reducing noise and vibration.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation Specifications
Clean the bearing, journal, and mounting base to remove oil, rust, and impurities. Check the journal diameter, roundness, and surface roughness to ensure they meet fitting requirements.

Use cold pressing or specialized tools for installation. Do not directly strike the outer ring to avoid deformation or jamming of the needle rollers. Apply grease to the journal to ensure adequate lubrication after installation.

Control the installation interference fit (0.01-0.03mm) to prevent the bearing from becoming loose or too tight, which can lead to excessive running resistance and overheating.

Maintenance Recommendations
Check every 800-1200 working hours: for abnormal noise, overheating, and outer ring deformation; check the journal for wear. Replace bearings with a clearance >0.15mm.

Replenish grease regularly. Adjust the replacement cycle according to operating conditions. Shorten the cycle under heavy load/dust conditions to prevent lubrication failure from accelerating wear or burning of the needle rollers and journal.
