CAT 586-3571 (5863571) YM is a Caterpillar heavy-duty straight sleeve bearing, also commonly known as a “connecting rod/boom sleeve bearing”. It is mainly used in the hinge parts of construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers, including booms, sticks, connecting rods, rocker arms, and cylinder lugs. It is compatible with CAT 336D/345D/374F excavators, 980M/982M loaders, and D8T/D9R bulldozers. It is used to withstand heavy loads and impacts, ensure smooth rotation of hinge parts, and reduce wear on pins and seat holes. Here is the core information:

Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Part Model: CAT 586-3571 (5863571) YM Heavy-Duty Straight Sleeve Bearing
Material: 42CrMo alloy steel / boron steel, integral quenching + tempering (HRC 50–58), surface hardening depth 2–3 mm, good core toughness
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 76.2 mm (3.0 in), outer diameter 88.9 mm (3.5 in), length 101.6 mm (4.0 in), wall thickness 6.35 mm, chamfered ends 1×45°
Single Weight: Approx. 1.2 kg (2.65 lbs)
Surface Treatment: Quenching + blackening / oxidation treatment, some with lubrication grooves + oil filling holes, suitable for grease lubrication systems
Compatible Models: CAT 336D/336GC/345D/374F excavators, 980M/982M Loaders, D8T/D9R bulldozers, 140M/160M graders, etc.

Core Functions: Heavy-duty articulated support, wear-resistant and impact-resistant, reduces pin wear, suitable for high-frequency oscillating/rotating conditions.

Core Functions and Structural Features:

Heavy-duty load-bearing: Made of 42CrMo/boron steel, hardened to a compressive strength ≥1200 MPa, capable of withstanding large loads and impacts on the boom, stick, etc., preventing deformation and breakage.

Wear-resistant and anti-galling: Surface hardened to HRC 50–58, excellent wear resistance, suitable for harsh working conditions such as dust and mud, preventing pin seizing and wear.

Lubrication compatibility: Some models have axial lubrication grooves and radial oil injection holes, allowing grease to be added via grease fittings to form an oil film, reducing friction and extending service life.

Structural compatibility: Straight cylindrical design, no flange, suitable for stepless mounting holes, chamfered ends for easy assembly, and tight fit with the mounting hole after press-fitting for precise positioning.

Installation and Maintenance Points

Installation Specifications: Clean the seat hole and pin, removing burrs, metal shavings, and oil. The seat hole diameter tolerance is H7 (88.9 mm + 0.035 mm), and the roundness is ≤0.015 mm.

Use cold pressing or hot fitting (heat the seat hole to 80–100℃) to press the sleeve bearing into the seat hole. Control the pressing force at 5–8 tons, ensuring the end faces are flush and without tilting. The inner diameter shrinkage after pressing should be ≤0.05 mm.

After assembly, check the pin’s rotational flexibility for any jamming or abnormal noise. Control the clearance at 0.08–0.15 mm to avoid interference and seizing.

Maintenance Recommendations: Add lithium-based grease (NLGI 2 grade) every 250–500 working hours, adding grease until it overflows each time to ensure adequate lubrication.

Every 1000 working hours, check for bearing looseness, outer diameter wear >0.1 mm, surface peeling, or cracks. Replace immediately if necessary. When replacing bearings, prioritize original or YM equivalent heavy-duty sleeve bearings to avoid premature failure caused by replacing them with ordinary steel sleeves.
