CAT 596-2985 is a steel straight sleeve (track pin sleeve) specifically designed for Caterpillar tracked equipment. Its core function is in the track link connection and tensioning mechanism, and it is compatible with bulldozers such as the D6N/LGP and D7R, as well as some excavators. The following is precise technical and application information.
Core Parameters (Precise Version)
Project Details
Basic Attributes
Model 596-2985, Straight Solid Steel Sleeve, for Track Link Pins/Track Tensioners, 1 piece per link, quantity varies per tracked machine
Compatible Models: Cat D6N/LGP, D7R, D7R II, D7R III tracked bulldozers, some Cat 320/323 series excavators track tensioners, compatible track link models 155-4022, 155-4023, etc.
Material and Process: Carbon steel (SAE 1045), surface hardened (hardness HRC 45-50), no internal/external threads, straight cylindrical without grooves, chamfered ends C1.0, no plating, solid forging and precision grinding
Key Dimensions: Inner diameter 66.68mm (2.625 inches), outer diameter… 79.38mm (3.125 inches), overall length 38.10mm (1.5 inches), wall thickness 6.35mm, weight approx. 0.92kg
Performance Parameters: Operating temperature -40℃ to +120℃, radial load ≤50kN, clearance 0.05-0.10mm, interference fit 0.02-0.04mm, relies on grease fitting for forced lubrication.
Replacements and Compatibility: Replacement models 596-2984, 596-2986; compatible track pins 155-4022, track links 155-4023. Recommended replacement every 5000 hours or during track overhaul; repair and reuse are prohibited.
Core Functions and Application Scenarios:
Connection Support: Serves as a rigid connection and positioning component between track pins and links, transmitting track drive torque, supporting impact loads during track movement, and suitable for heavy-duty working conditions.
Wear Protection: The hardened carbon steel material provides a highly wear-resistant interface, isolating the track pins and link holes, reducing direct wear between the pins and holes, and extending the life of the track assembly.
Tension Fit: When used in track tensioning devices, it adjusts track tension, absorbs walking vibrations, and prevents track derailment.
Typical Locations: Track link connections, front end of the track tensioning cylinder, used to connect track links, transmit power, and maintain stable track tension.
Installation and Maintenance Points:
Before Installation: Clean the link holes and the outer diameter of the sleeve, checking for deformation, cracks, or surface peeling on the sleeve; measure the interference fit between the outer diameter of the sleeve and the inner diameter of the link hole to be 0.02-0.04mm, and prepare the press-in tool and hydraulic pump station (press-in pressure approximately 10-15kN).
During installation: Keep the sleeve coaxial with the chain link hole during pressing, applying even pressure. After pressing, check that the sleeve end face is flush with the chain link plane, without any misalignment. After installation, inject lithium-based grease (NLGI 2) through the grease fitting to ensure adequate lubrication.
Maintenance and replacement: Check the sleeve outer diameter wear and fit clearance every 2000 hours. Replace immediately if the clearance exceeds 0.2mm or if scratches deeper than 1mm appear on the surface. Welding or repair welding is prohibited.
