The CAT 614-4600 is a Caterpillar powder metallurgy steel straight sleeve bearing (shroud) suitable for the thumb shovel, slewing frame, and other parts of the Cat 301.5-302 mini excavator. It is used for radial load support and low-friction sliding, and features wear resistance and low noise. It is a core sliding support component of Cat® Parts for connecting rods and pins in small equipment. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 614-4600, Type: Straight sleeve bearing (no flange), Material: Powder metallurgy steel (oil-based self-lubricating), Single weight: approx. 0.177 kg, Applicable temperature: -30℃ to +100℃, Lubrication method: Self-lubricating + supplementary grease lubrication (Cat Moly Grease recommended), Mounting method: Interference fit (interference 0.005-0.015 mm), Surface treatment: Phosphate coating, Suitable pin diameter: 35 mm
Key Dimensions
Inner diameter: 35.089 mm (tolerance +0.010/+0.005 mm), Outer diameter: 45.212 mm (tolerance -0.015/-0.025 mm), Length: 44.958 mm (tolerance ±0.10 mm), Wall thickness: 5.0615 mm, Chamfer at both ends r=1 mm (tolerance ±0.05 mm) (mm), inner hole surface roughness Ra≤0.8 μm, hardness HB240-280, porosity 15%-20% (oil content≥12%)
Compatible Models and Applications: Compatible with Cat 301.5, 301.6, 301.7, 301.8, 301.9, and 302 excavators, installed on the thumb shovel connecting rod, swing frame pin, and blade connecting pin. 4-6 units are required per machine. Matching pins: 305-7548, retaining rings: 22M-0012
Performance Parameters: Radial load capacity ≤45 kN, sliding friction coefficient μ≤0.12 (without lubrication), fatigue life ≥5×10⁵ cycles, wear rate ≤0.005 mm/1000 hours, compressive strength ≥600 MPa, shear strength ≥350 MPa MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages
Powder Metallurgy Self-Lubricating: The porous structure stores oil, eliminating the need for frequent lubrication under low-speed conditions, reducing maintenance frequency, and lowering friction loss by approximately 30% compared to copper bushings. Suitable for small equipment operating at low speeds and in intermittent motion scenarios (Cat® Parts).
Compact Straight Design: The flangeless structure is suitable for narrow installation spaces. Chamfered ends facilitate installation guidance, preventing the pin and bushing edges from colliding, improving assembly efficiency, and suitable for compact linkage mechanisms such as thumb shovels.
Wear Resistance and Impact Resistance: Powder metallurgy steel treated with a phosphate coating enhances surface hardness and corrosion resistance, resisting dust and mud erosion, suitable for harsh outdoor working conditions of small excavators, with an impact load capacity ≥120 kN.
Precise Dimensional Fit: Strictly controlled inner diameter tolerances ensure a clearance fit with the pin (0.015-0.030 mm), reducing operating noise (≤55 dB), minimizing pin wear, and extending component lifespan.
Installation and Maintenance Points
**Before installation, clean the bushing and mounting hole. Press in using the cold pressing method (press head perpendicular to the bushing end face). After pressing, check that the inner hole roundness is ≤0.01 mm and the coaxiality is ≤0.02 mm. Do not heat or strike the bushing body to prevent damage to the pore structure.**
Every 1500 hours of maintenance, check the bushing wear. If the inner diameter wear exceeds 0.15 mm or if surface peeling or cracks appear, replace immediately. When adding grease, use a high-pressure grease gun, injecting 1/4-1/3 of the bushing volume to avoid excessive grease overflow and contamination.
Prioritize original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts. Aftermarket parts must match the porosity and oil content of the powder metallurgy material. Inferior bushings can easily cause pin jamming and connecting rod breakage, affecting equipment operation safety.
