CAT 6I-3754 is a Caterpillar external snap-fit retaining ring (shaft elastic retaining ring), compatible with Cat C13/C15/C18 engines and some transmissions. It is used for axial positioning of components on a shaft, preventing displacement of gears, bearings, etc., under vibration conditions, ensuring stable operation of the transmission system. The following is the structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 6I-3754, Type: Shaft external snap-fit retaining ring, Material: 65Mn spring steel, Surface: galvanized passivation (no rust after 96 hours of salt spray), Single weight: approximately 0.08 kg, Operating temperature: -40℃ to +150℃, Standard: ISO 894-1, Hardness: HRC48-52, Elastic recovery rate: ≥95%, Shear strength: ≥800 MPa
Key Dimensions
Shaft diameter: 95.0 mm (tolerance 0/-0.02 mm), Free outer diameter: 102.0 mm (tolerance ±0.15 mm) 3.0 mm thickness (tolerance ±0.05 mm), opening width 8.0 mm (tolerance ±0.20 mm), groove diameter 95.0 mm (tolerance 0/+0.02 mm), groove width 3.2 mm (tolerance +0.05/-0.02 mm), radial tension ≥12 kN, radial deformation after installation ≤0.15 mm. Compatible Models and Applications: Compatible with camshafts and crankshafts of Cat C13, C15, and C18 engines, as well as the Cat 793D mining truck gearbox and the Cat 349D/352F excavator slewing mechanism. Used for axial positioning of gears, bearings, spacers, and other components, suitable for high-speed rotation and severe vibration conditions, preventing axial movement of components. Performance Parameters: Rated static axial load ≥50 kN, dynamic axial load ≥35 kN, fatigue life ≥1 million cycles (10 kN load cycles), assembly clearance ≤0.05 mm. mm, disassembly times ≤ 5 times (ensuring elasticity), surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm
Structural and Performance Advantages
65Mn spring steel material undergoes professional heat treatment, achieving a balance between elasticity and toughness. It can be repeatedly installed and disassembled with good elastic recovery, suitable for frequent maintenance conditions, ensuring reliable positioning.
The open design facilitates installation and disassembly; it can be operated with dedicated snap ring pliers without complex tools, improving assembly efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.
Zinc-plated passivated surface treatment provides strong corrosion resistance, suitable for high engine temperatures, high oil mist conditions, and harsh outdoor environments, extending service life and reducing maintenance frequency.
Precise dimensional design ensures high compatibility with shaft grooves, stable radial tension, effectively counteracting axial forces generated by vibration, preventing component displacement, and ensuring transmission accuracy.
Installation and Maintenance Points
Before installation, clean the shaft groove and retaining ring surface, checking for burrs and cracks; use dedicated external snap ring pliers to pry open the retaining ring, insert it into the shaft groove, and slowly release it, ensuring the retaining ring is fully embedded in the groove without skewing or looseness. After installation, the axial clearance should be ≤ 0.05 mm.
After installation, check that adjacent components rotate freely without jamming. After starting the equipment, monitor for any abnormal vibrations or noises. Avoid striking the retaining ring with hard objects to prevent deformation that could affect positioning accuracy.
Maintenance: Check the retaining ring every 2000 hours. If deformation, corrosion, decreased elasticity, or cracks appear at the opening, replace it immediately. Only use genuine parts for replacement; do not mix retaining rings of different specifications to avoid positioning failure.
