CAT 6W-5796 is a Caterpillar-specific flat gasket, compatible with hydraulic pumps, gearbox housings, or valve assembly flanges in excavators and loaders, used for oil/gas sealing under high-pressure conditions. The following is professional structured information from Cat® Parts.
Core Technical Parameters (Professional Version)
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 6W-5796, asbestos-free composite gasket, single weight 0.12 kg, 1 piece per unit, compatible with M8×1.25 bolts (torque 18–22 N・m), compatible with hydraulic pump housing/gearbox end cover of Cat 320GC/323GC excavators and 950M/966M loaders
Key Dimensions
Outer diameter φ120 mm (tolerance ±0.2 mm), inner diameter φ85 mm (tolerance ±0.2 mm), thickness 3.0 mm (tolerance ±0.1 mm), 6 bolt holes evenly distributed (φ8.5 mm, hole spacing φ100 mm, tolerance ±0.1 mm), sealing surface flatness ≤0.05 mm
Material and Process
Core material is aramid fiber + nitrile rubber (NBR) composite layer (thickness 2.5 mm), covered with 0.25 mm on both sides Stainless steel foil, surface coated with graphite (coefficient of friction ≤0.15), deburred edges (Ra≤3.2 μm), oil-resistant/aging-resistant, operating temperature -40℃ to +120℃
Performance Parameters: Rated sealing pressure 25 MPa (hydraulic oil), burst pressure ≥60 MPa, compression ratio 15%–20%, rebound rate ≥40%, resistant to Cat DEO-ULS machine oil and 10W-30 hydraulic oil, leak-proof rating Class B (GB/T 27786)
Compatible Models: Excavators 320GC/323GC, loaders 950M/966M, used for sealing hydraulic pump housing flanges, gearbox front covers, and main valve control blocks, replacing the old 3W-5796 gasket, compatible with Cat 4C-9507 sealant
Installation and Maintenance Points: Clean the flange surface before installation (free from oil/rust/scratches), and ensure the gasket is not deformed/ For damaged gaskets, apply a thin layer of Cat 4C-9507 sealant (≤0.1 mm thickness). Tighten bolts in three diagonal passes (torque 18–22 N·m).
Sealing requirements: Flange face clearance ≤0.1 mm. After installation, perform a pressure test (25 MPa, 5 min, no leakage). Do not reuse old gaskets (compression rebound failure).
Maintenance requirements: Inspect the sealing surface every 1000 hours. If oil leakage is found, replace the gasket. Also check the flange face flatness (milling repair if out of tolerance).
Troubleshooting: If leakage occurs, check for loose bolts (retightening torque) or damaged gaskets (replace with new ones). Avoid high-pressure oil spray.
