CAT 7Y-0597 is a precision adjusting shim from Caterpillar, commonly used in bearing end caps, gearbox flanges, or hydraulic pump mounting surfaces of excavators, loaders, and other equipment. Its core function is to adjust axial clearance, compensate for installation errors, and assist in sealing, making it suitable for stable operation of Cat® Parts under harsh working conditions. The following is structured technical and application information:

Core Technical Parameters

Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 7Y-0597, Type: Flat gasket (adjustment/sealing dual-purpose), Material: Stainless steel (304), Surface passivated, Hardness: HV200-250, Single weight: Approximately 0.12 kg, Applicable temperature: -40℃ to +200℃, Corrosion resistance: IP65, Oil and hydraulic oil resistant, Asbestos-free environmentally friendly material, Thickness tolerance: ±0.01 mm, Flatness: ≤0.02 mm/100 mm

Key Dimensions
Inner diameter: 82.55 mm (suitable for shaft diameter tolerance h7), Outer diameter: 114.3 mm (suitable for flange groove tolerance H8), Thickness: 0.5 mm (standard specification, 0.3/0.8/1.0 mm optional), Bolt hole diameter: 10.5 mm (4 evenly distributed, center distance 98.4 mm), Corner radius: R=2 mm, burr-free edges (Ra≤0.8 μm)

Compatible Models and Applications: Compatible with Cat 320D2, 336D2, 349D2 excavators, 966M, 972M loaders. Used for slewing gearbox bearing end covers, final drive flanges, and hydraulic pump mounting flanges. Matching parts include bolts 106-7775, nuts 8T-4122, and seals 4J-0325. Adjusts bearing axial clearance (recommended 0.10-0.15 mm), compensates for flange surface flatness errors, and helps prevent oil leakage.

Performance Parameters: Rated bearing pressure ≥10 MPa, sealing pressure ≤5 MPa, fatigue life ≥5000 cycles, assembly clearance 0.01-0.03 mm, coefficient of thermal expansion 17.3×10⁻⁶/℃, shear strength ≥300 MPa
Structural and Performance Advantages
Precision Dimension Control: Strict thickness and flatness tolerances ensure precise clearance adjustment, adapting to high-precision installation requirements, reducing vibration and noise, and improving transmission efficiency (Cat® Parts).

Stainless Steel Material: 304 stainless steel possesses excellent corrosion resistance and toughness, suitable for humid and dusty environments. Passivation treatment enhances rust prevention and extends service life (Cat® Parts).

Dual-Purpose Design: Combines adjustment and sealing functions, effectively compensating for flange surface errors after installation, assisting seals to improve sealing performance, and reducing the risk of oil leakage (Cat® Parts).

Environmentally Friendly and Asbestos-Free: Meets environmental standards, avoiding the release of harmful substances, adapting to the environmental requirements of modern equipment, and reducing health risks associated with maintenance (Cat® Parts).

Installation and Maintenance Points
Clean the gasket, flange surface, and bolt holes before installation to remove oil, burrs, and rust; ensure the gasket and seal fit snugly, without twisting or wrinkling; tighten bolts evenly in a diagonal sequence, controlling the torque between 45-55 N·m to avoid overtightening and deforming the gasket.

After installation, check the axial clearance and adjust it to the recommended range (0.10-0.15 mm) by increasing or decreasing the shim thickness. Run the bearing for 60 minutes to confirm there is no leakage or abnormal vibration, and the bearing temperature is ≤80℃.

Maintenance: Check the shims for deformation and wear every 1500 hours. Replace them immediately if the thickness reduction is >0.05 mm or if cracks or corrosion appear. Use original parts whenever possible to ensure dimensional accuracy and material matching, avoiding uncontrolled clearance or poor sealing due to shim failure.
