CAT 9V-6526 is a Caterpillar shaft retaining ring (external retaining ring). Its core function is to embed into the shaft groove to achieve axial positioning of components such as gears, bearings, and bushings, preventing movement during operation. It is compatible with the transmission and hydraulic systems of excavators, loaders, etc., and is a key component among small positioning fasteners, Cat® Parts. The following is structured technical and application information:
Core Technical Parameters
Item Details
Basic Attributes
Model 9V-6526, Type: Shaft elastic retaining ring (external snap ring, no ear / with mounting groove), Material: 65Mn spring steel (quenched + tempered, hardness HRC45-52), Single weight approx. 0.025 kg, Suitable temperature: -40℃ to +150℃, Surface treatment: galvanized color passivation (salt spray resistance ≥96 h), Installation method: dedicated snap ring clamps, elastically embedded into the shaft groove (Cat® Parts)
Key Dimensions
Free inner diameter: 45 mm (assembled inner diameter 44.8 mm, suitable shaft diameter 45 mm, tolerance f7), Outer diameter: 52 mm (tolerance ±0.1 mm), Thickness: 2 mm (tolerance ±0.05 mm), Groove width: 2.1 mm (suitable shaft groove width 2.0-2.2 mm), Groove bottom diameter: 47 mm mm, no mounting ears, installed via circumferential groove, suitable for shaft groove depth ≥1.2 mm
Compatible Models and Parts: Compatible with Cat 320D/323D excavator boom cylinder piston rod bearing positioning, 950GC loader gearbox second shaft gear limit, D6K bulldozer hydraulic pump shaft end seal fixing, 1-2 pieces per shaft, used to bear light axial load (maximum axial load 15 kN), preventing impact wear caused by component movement.
Performance Parameters: Maximum axial load 15 kN, allowable speed 2000 rpm, elastic deformation ≤0.5 mm (after assembly), fatigue life ≥10000 cycles (under rated load), fracture strength ≥800 MPa, compatible with mineral oil, hydraulic oil, and other media, can work stably under vibration conditions. Cat® Parts
Structural and Performance Advantages: Reliable elastic positioning: 65Mn The spring steel undergoes heat treatment, achieving a balance of elasticity and toughness. After being embedded in the shaft groove, it springs back and clamps firmly without loosening, making it suitable for high-frequency vibration conditions and ensuring stable axial position of the component.
Precise Dimensional Fit: Strict groove width and diameter tolerances ensure a tight fit with the shaft groove, eliminating axial clearance after installation and preventing abnormal wear and noise caused by component movement.
Corrosion Resistance and Durability: Galvanized color passivation surface treatment enhances resistance to moisture and salt spray, making it suitable for outdoor engineering machinery conditions and extending the service life of the retaining ring.
Efficient Installation: No fasteners are required; it can be quickly embedded in the shaft groove using dedicated external retaining ring pliers. Disassembly is convenient, meeting the needs of rapid on-site maintenance.
Installation and Maintenance Points: Before installation, clean the shaft groove and retaining ring, checking for cracks and deformation on the retaining ring and burrs on the shaft groove. Use external retaining ring pliers to open the retaining ring, embed it into the shaft groove, and release it, ensuring the retaining ring completely sinks to the bottom of the groove without tilting.
Maintenance every 1500 hours: Check the retaining ring for looseness, deformation, or corrosion. If the groove clearance exceeds 0.1 mm, the retaining ring loses its elasticity, or cracks appear, it must be replaced immediately.
Prioritize original parts. Aftermarket parts may have insufficient material elasticity, dimensional deviations, etc., which can easily lead to positioning failure and damage to transmission components.
