Timken has served the railroad industry since the 1920s, offering a range of friction management technologies, especially new and refurbished bearings.

The company also provides complementary services including technical support for locomotive, freight and passenger car applications. Customers include Class Is, transport authorities and wheelset repair shops.

Timken bearing solutions include AP-2™. AP-2 bearings are designed for heavier loads and higher speeds to minimize fretting wear. The company says it can provide “significant energy savings” when integrated with the company’s premium seals and polymer cages. It is also designed to reduce bearing deflection and bearing failure due to water intrusion.

AP-2 also reduces component wear and axle fillet damage, reducing the likelihood of axle failures and axle grooves, company officials said.

The company also offers a range of bearing reconditioning services and on-site vehicle maintenance. A range of sealing products prevent contamination and high-quality lubrication keeps trains running smoothly.

In addition, Timken provides training on the basics of track bearings.

“We draw on our experience and knowledge from the world’s most challenging industries to benefit all of our new and refurbished bearing customers,” the company said.
