IV. Oil Mist Lubrication

Oil mist lubrication involves atomizing lubricating oil into a fine mist and delivering it to the bearing’s operating zone. This lubrication method reduces lubricant consumption and is suitable for certain high-speed rotating equipment. However, oil-mist systems place high demands on equipment structure, sealing, and lubrication system design; therefore, their selection depends on specific operating conditions.

V. Oil-Air Lubrication

Oil-air lubrication involves combining a small amount of lubricant with compressed air to continuously deliver the lubricant to the bearing.

This method allows for precise control of lubricant supply and helps mitigate temperature rise during high-speed operation, making it suitable for bearings in certain high-speed, high-precision petroleum machinery.

VI. How to Choose the Right Lubrication Method?

The choice of lubrication method for petroleum equipment bearings should not be based solely on the equipment’s name but rather on actual operating conditions. Key factors to consider include bearing rotational speed, load, operating temperature, continuous operation duration, environmental contamination, and maintenance conditions.

For example, grease lubrication may be considered for standard operating conditions; circulating oil lubrication—based on design specifications—may be used for equipment requiring continuous operation or enhanced heat dissipation; and for high-speed bearings, methods such as oil-mist or oil-air lubrication should be carefully evaluated.
